He slowly but angrily grabs her hair and holds it firmly, then grabs her jaw in his other hand.
– Are you happy?
She stares at him silently as her left eye sheds a tear.
His expression softens and so does his pull at the back of her head. He wipes away the tear and tries to find the words.
– I am sorry. I never wished for you to be unhappy. Even after everything you did.
He lets go of her and pulls away, but she stops him.
– Wait! Stay…
– You know I can’t do that. It’s too late for that.
– You promised you’d never leave me…
– But then you left. And I was forced to pick up all the pieces. I didn’t think there could be so many.
– But I’m here now…
– I’m not sure how true that is, but even if it were, I don’t know if I am anymore. I don’t know that I’d want to be.
