I thought I saw you at the store one day, so I came over to say hello. You turned around, but it wasn’t you.

I thought I saw you at the movies one day, sitting in front of me, so I tapped your shoulder. You turned around, but it wasn’t you.

I thought I saw you in the park one day, walking your dog. I came up to you and it started barking at me. You turned around, but it wasn’t you.

I thought I saw you in a crowd one day, so I called you, but the number was no longer in use. I came closer and called out your name. You turned around, but it wasn’t you.

I met you at a party one day, you hugged me, said you were happy to see me, and asked me how I was. I looked at your face, I looked into your eyes, but it wasn’t you.

I saw you in a dream one night. You held my hand and told me you missed me. I asked you why you never talk to me anymore, and you told me it’s because you were never you.
