You taught me that I don’t matter.
You taught me that my feelings don’t matter and that I am not entitled to feel the things I feel.
You taught me to keep quiet lest my needs become a nuisance.
You taught me to be scared and keep my distance.
You taught me that I’m not good enough.
You taught me to never trust anyone again.
You taught me that no matter how absolutely and completely I trust someone, no matter how strongly I believe they would never betray me, they still might.
You taught me fear, you taught me jealousy, you taught me rage, you taught me despair, rejection, shame, insecurity, loneliness, loss, hate, and isolation.
But you once taught me love too, and I will never forgive you for it.
